Nobody knows what is behind a wall until it comes down. The difference between a good renovation and a stressful one is how the builder deals with that.
We have taken an 1860s house through a full renovation, with new ceilings, wall linings, damp proofing, lintels, heating, a kitchen and bathrooms. We have opened up small rooms into kitchen diners, and fitted kitchens in everything from farmhouses to new builds.

Can we live in the house during a renovation?
Often, yes, particularly if we can work in phases. For whole house jobs with no kitchen or bathroom for a while, some clients prefer to move out. We will talk it through with you.
Do you supply kitchens?
We fit kitchens from any supplier, or can introduce you to suppliers we trust. We handle everything around the kitchen: walls, electrics, plumbing, plastering, tiling and floors.
What happens if you find something unexpected?
We stop, show you, and give you options and a price before doing any extra work. No surprise bills at the end.
Can you remove a load bearing wall?
Yes. An engineer designs the steel, we notify building control, and the wall is propped and removed safely.

Following a tender process organised by our architect, we chose Barlow Construction of Thirsk for a single storey extension enlarging our kitchen diner, and a raft of other internal work.
